Generation A by Douglas Coupland

I only borrowed this book on chance sight at the library, but it hooked me and I've read it in 4 days. Connects five people through the power of their stories in a world where bees are extinct... does this say something about the power of the parable?Certainly it wants to speak of the power of imaginatiuon to change lives and the world. In a very Coupland way. Of course!

Anyway, well worth a read.

A Poem

The Peace of Wild Things

When despair grows in me
and I wake in the middle of the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting for their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

Death of Bin Laden

I pretty much agree with Nick Baines. Follow this link.

Nothing really deals with the outrage of watching nearly 3000 murders on live TV.  One man's death doesn't seem like the definition of justice, in any case I am opposed to the death penalty.Capture and  trial would have been preferable.

None of this seems likely to bring peace - that has to be based on love and respect.
