It went quiet...

The blog went quiet because life went hectic! Not only did I start a new job and Ike start a new school, there';s been commuting to contend with and the continuing problem with my eye. Anne's expecting a major operation on 11th March if not before - all in all, pretty 'full-on'.

So - don't expect too many deep thoughts or massive reading (though we have discovered the detective novels of Jim Kelly and I have bought a volume of Ezra Pound's poems, always a challenge. Don't really know why I did that! Looking forward to getting to grips with some later tonight).

BUT, illnesses aside, it's been a great month and the new job has been fascinating. Today we had a conference for Headteachers, Chairs of Governors, and Incumbents looking at Academy status for Church Schools, with a speaker from the DfE and another from National Society. Bishop Trevor also spoke very well indeed. I'll refrain from any value-giving comments but let's just say it was fascinating and has stimulated much thinking even in the few hours since we all packed up at St Mary Bredin (excellent venue, by the way).

Can't find a very apposite Ezra Pound quote at short notice but here's a lovely image from his poem CINO:

"I will sing of the white birds
In the blue waters of heaven,
The clouds that are spray to its sea".
